Per Governor Abbott’s Executive Order No. GA-23 relating to the expanded opening of Texas in response to the COVID-19 disaster, filed on May 18, 2020, youth sports programs in Texas will be allowed to resume practice on May 31, 2020, but games and similar competitions may not begin until June 15, 2020. The municipal parks and ballfields in Iowa Park have been and remain open to the public; however, social gatherings involving people who are not from the same household have been limited by executive orders since March 20, 2020. Starting on May 31, 2020, social gathering will be permitted for youth sports programs; provided, however, that practices may begin, but games and similar competitions may not begin until June 15, 2020. Until then, people are NOT prohibited from engaging in safe daily activities; hunting or fishing; attending youth club meetings or events; or engaging in physical activity like jogging, bicycling, or other outdoor sports, so long as the necessary precautions are maintained to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 and to minimize in-person contact with people who are not in the same household.
