The Texas Writes Program will be at the Tom Burnett Memorial Library in Iowa Park, TX to present a program on Saturday, March 24, 2018. This event is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
Starting at 10:00 a.m., attendees will hear from author Kathleen Kent on effective strategies for writing exciting stories in the crime and mystery genres. Her talk is titled “Criminal Minds: The Elements of Crime Writing.”
In addition, author Jeramey Kraatz will discuss the differences between middle grade and young adult novels, and how to make your kidlit stories dynamic. His talk is titled “KidLit: Writing for Children and Teens.”
This program will include a discussion with the authors, and a chance for the audience to ask questions. This event is for writers and readers alike and is a terrific opportunity to hear accomplished authors speak about the craft of writing and the life of a writer.
This event is the ninth event in the 2017/2018 season of Texas Writes, a statewide program offered by the Writers’ League of Texas and supported by a generous grant from the Tocker Foundation. Texas Writes sends accomplished, published authors into libraries across the state for presentations and panel discussions focused on the craft of writing.
“This is one of the programs that we offer that I’m most proud of for its commitment to supporting the wonderful libraries that service our smaller towns in Texas and for its chief aim, to feed writers’ souls and to connect writers and readers in our communities.” – Becka Oliver, Executive Director, Writers’ League of Texas
