A City of Iowa Park registration is available for dogs and cats and helps to insure the safe return of lost or stray pets. Animal license tags are available for a fee of four dollars($4.00). Written proof of rabies is required for all pets. Animals caught running or roaming at large and picked up by the City’s animal control officer are impounded at the City of Iowa Park Re-claim Center located on 368 south, and can be redeemed for a fee charged by the City and the Shelter. The City of Iowa Park provides permitting and inspection services for building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing construction within the City’s corporate limits. The most current editions of the International Construction Codes have been adopted and are used in regulating the construction industry. Code enforcement activities also include junk and/or abandoned vehicles, weed lots and substandard structures. The City also provides floodplain administration activities within the city and its extraterritorial jurisdiction.
The Texas Department of Public Safety operates a state license bureau office at 5505 North Central Freeway in Wichita Falls. Emergency Management Services
The City of Iowa Park provides emergency management services in the event of man-made or natural disasters. An emergency warning system is maintained and operated by the City’s Division of Public Safety and will be sounded in the event a dangerous cloud is spotted, when straight-line winds exceed 55 miles-per-hour or in the event of any other type of pending disaster that could directly affect the community.Tornado and high-wind warnings are sounded as long blasts for the duration of three minutes. In the event the City’s warning system is sounded, citizens are encourage to take shelter indoors immediately and maintain contact with local radio and/or television weather stations. The City’s emergency warning system is tested on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. In advance of a possible tornado warning, the City, in cooperation with the Iowa Park Consolidated Independent School District, will open public storm shelters located at the Iowa Park high School basement, the Kidwell Elementary School’s gymnasium and the Bradford Elementary School gymnasium. The City maintains a basic emergency operations plan along mutual aid agreements with all area and regional governmental agencies including Sheppard Air Force Base.

The City of Iowa Park operates the Tom Burnett Memorial Library located at 410 West Alameda Street. Library hours are 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays; 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and the Library is closed Sundays and Mondays. The Iowa Park Consolidated Independent School District houses four campuses in Iowa Park. Ethyle Kidwell is located at 1200 North Third Street and supports grades kindergarten through the second grade. They can be reached by calling (940) 592-4322. W. R. Bradford Elementary is located at 800 South Texowa Street and serves grades three, four and five; their phone number is (940) 592-5841. The Iowa Park Middle School can be found at 412 East Cash Street and houses grades six through eight. They can be reached by calling (940) 592-2196. Serving the ninth through twelfth grades, the Iowa Park High School is located at 1513 West Highway and can be reached by calling (940) 592-2144. Solid Waste Collection
The City of Iowa Park is the exclusive provider of solid waste collection and disposal services for residences and businesses in the City. Currently, the City contracts with I.E.S.I., Incorporated for solid waste collection/disposal services for all utility customers. I.E.S.I. owns and operates a type I sanitary landfill just west southwest of the City on West Smith Avenue at its intersection with Johnson Road. The City’s new municipal swimming pool and spray park, located in Hawk Haven Park at 805 North Fourth Street, opens at the end of May each year. Normal pool hours are 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. It will be open on Tuesdays from 12:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Discounted family and individual memberships are sold and the daily admittance fee is set at three dollars ($3.00) per person. The pool is available for parties after 6:00 p.m. each day. No parties on Tuesdays. Area residents may obtain motor vehicle registrations, license plates and trailer licenses between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Tax Collector Sub-Station located at 400 North Wall Street. To obtain a motor vehicle registration, bring current vehicle registration and a certificate of current insurance. Ordinance number 1008 provides for permitting and regulation of peddlers, solicitors, itinerate merchants and vendors; provides for licenses, revocation and exemptions; and prevents peddlers, solicitors, vendors and itinerate merchants from coming on private property without a city permit. An application must be filled out with the office of the City Secretary. All applications are reviewed by the Administration Department before being issued a permit. A fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00) for one individual and twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for agroup of two or more shall be charged for permits for a period of one year. Water and Sewer Service
The City of Iowa Park provides water and sewer services. Residents and businesses are billed monthly. Residential utility bills include charges for water, sewer, drainage fee and trash pickup. Commercial rates only include services for water, sewer and drainage fees. Utility customers are also given the opportunity to contribute,through their utility bill, to the City’s Christmas decoration fund, to the Highland Cemetery Association and/or to the maintenance of the OscarPark/Gordon Lake recreational area. Utility charges are determined annually and are designed to cover the costs associated with delivering the service. New accounts inside the city limits must pay a deposit of seventy-five dollars($75.00) while outside-city customers establishing new accounts must pay a deposit of one hundred and twenty-five dollars ($125.00); deposits are refundable after service discontinuance. There is also a ten dollar ($10.00)account connection fee that is not refundable.
