How can I obtain a library card?
Applications for library cards are available at the front desk of the Tom Burnett Memorial Library; children under the age of 16 years should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when applying for a library card. Proof of residency is required at the time the application is submitted. Your acceptance of a library card from the Tom Burnett Memorial Library indicates you agreement to be responsible for any and all library materials checked out by yourself and that you will abide by all library policies.
How long may I keep library materials checked out?
Books, compact discs (CDs) and audio books may be checked out for up to twenty-one (21) days while magazines can only be checked out for seven (7) days. DVDs and videos may be checked out for up to three (3) days.
What is the fine amounts levied for overdue library materials?
Overdue videos and DVDs will initiate a fine of one dollar ($1.00) per day while all other library materials that are overdue will require the Library staff levy a fine of ten cents ($0.10) per day.
Is there a copy machine available to the public at the Tom Burnett Memorial Library?
Yes, the cost of copying documents is fifteen cents ($0.15) per page.
Does the Library have computers available for use by the public and is internet available?
Yes, the Tom Burnett Memorial Library has five (5) computer workstations available for public use with a wireless internet connection. The Library’s computers are also connected to a printer and a charge of ten cents ($0.10) per page is charged for use of the computer printer.
What children’s programs are available at the Library?
Storytime is offered to pre-school children every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 10:00 am until 10:30 am. No pre-registration is required for children to attend storytime sessions. The Library also has a Summer Reading Program that is offered to all young readers during the months of June and July.
What other services are offered through the Library program?
The Tom Burnett Memorial Library has both a fax machine and a lamination machine available for use by the public. There is a charge of one dollar ($1.00) per page for use of the fax machine while the fee for laminating is fifty cents ($0.50) per foot.
If I can’t find a specific book I’m looking for, is it possible to order it from another library?
Yes, most books are available through the “Interlibrary Loan Program” for Tom Burnett Memorial Library patrons in good standing.
What can you tell me about the TexShare card?
A TexShare library card is available through the Tom Burnett Memorial Library for patrons in good standing. This card allows you to check out books at other libraries in our area, free of charge.
Is there a meeting room available at the Library that can be rented for special events or meetings?
Yes, we have a one thousand square foot meeting room upstairs that is available for a fee to the general public. The meeting room also has a three hundred square foot conference room with a small kitchenette attached. Cost to rent the upstairs rooms is set at one hundred dollars ($100.00) for weddings and/or wedding receptions; rental of the facilities for other types of events is just seventy-five dollars. There is a fifty dollar deposit for the rental of the meeting room/conference room. Reservations must be made through the Library’s front desk. Use of the outside gazebo is free however; individuals desiring to use the gazebo must register though the Library’s staff to avoid conflicts with other events.
Are retired books and other library materials available for purchase from the library?
Yes, at least once a year the Library’s staff will conduct a used book sale; proceeds from this sale assist the Library in purchasing new materials. Contact one of our Library staff to find the date on our next sale.
